HUDHURANFUSHI REPORT, SEPTEMBER 2016
Report & Gallery by Richard Kotch for World Surfaris
September in the Maldives has been everything that a surfer could have hoped for -Waves every day and good winds. Sure some days were a bit small, but others were (relatively) big, some days were hollow, while others were rather fat. But whatever the waves were doing we were blessed with beautiful conditions and amazing weather. All my reports seem to talk about non-stop waves, but that’s just the way it’s been this year at Lohis! The most common question has actually been “so when’s this swell going to drop off?”

The Indian Ocean has been serving up the perfect combination of long period swells straight up from the depths of the Southern Ocean that have then been backed up almost instantly with a shorter period but oh so consistent high-pressure SE trade wind swell. As one swell fades away, the next one has filled in…and on and on it goes!
